Cosmetic Surgery For Men

At DiBello Plastic Surgery, we have many men approach us about ways they can look their best. Of course, men may have particular objectives for their plastic surgery needs. Their goals could include a more balanced nose, rejuvenated face, or a trimmer waistline. These procedures must take into consideration important factors such as skin thickness, beard growth, and body type, which Dr. DiBello understands. Although cosmetic alterations such as eyelid surgery, nose surgery, or facial-implant surgery are performed essentially the same way for men and women, it is important that your physician know if you are seeking a more masculine look for your facial features. Maintaining or restoring masculine-oriented features like a chin with better projection, more prominent cheekbones, or a stronger nose are as important to us as they are to our male clientele. As with all of our clients, we make your goals our goals, and achieve the best result for each individual through consistency and expertise that make us an oft-referred plastic surgery center for men and women alike.
At DiBello Plastic Surgery, we understand the specific needs of men and make it a goal to restore the masculine contours of a man's frame and improve his overall self-esteem and self-image. Dr. DiBello offers a wide variety of cosmetic surgery options specific to men, including facial surgery, eyelid tuck and forehead lift, neck lift, facial contouring, liposuction, and breast reduction.

Facial Cosmetic Surgery
It’s natural for a man to want to look his best and we share in each man’s goal of achieving the best result. More men, whether their workplace is an office or a construction site, are exploring their options for facial cosmetic surgery. Depending on the patient's wishes, men’s facial cosmetic surgery can be a subtle, youthful alteration, or the surgery can be more dramatic in reversing the effects of aging, gravity and sun exposure. Dr. DiBello recognizes the goals for men are often different than women and modifies his techniques to custom suit this purpose. Men often want improvement without drawing unnecessary attention to themselves after the surgery, and we factor this in to how we approach each procedure. Ultimately, a face lift will smooth the loose skin of the face and neck, tighten the underlying tissues and remove any excess fat. This results in a more youthful, firmer, and fresher appearance. When performing a face lift on a man, Dr. DiBello always takes into account the details, from a man’s hairline and sideburns to his beard pattern.
Botox®, Hyaluronic acid (Restylane/Juvederm), and Fat Injections are popular non-surgical techniques for treating wrinkles and facial lines. Most patients are pleased with the results of these minimally invasive procedures. These procedures, however, cannot correct facial sagging or achieve the same results as face lift, eyelid surgery, browlift, or skin resurfacing.

Eyelid Tuck and Endoscopic Forehead Lift For Men
One of the most common complaints men make are the signs of aging that occur in the eye area. Loose droopy skin on the upper lid, fat bags on the lower eyelids, and a saggy brow can make a man look older, tired or even angry. Cosmetic eyelid surgery can remove the loose skin and excess fat to smooth the bags underneath the eyes. The result is a more rested, youthful and alert appearance. Dr. DiBello performs the upper lid tuck through a hidden crease incision avoiding visibility. For the lower eyelid in men, Dr. DiBello is versatile in the subciliary approach underneath the eyelashes, which some men may benefit from to tighten the lower eyelid skin, without changing the shape of the eye. If the brows are saggy, then an advanced technique of browlift may be recommended. Dr. DiBello then performs an endoscopic browlift, using small 1 inch hidden incisions behind the hairline. With extensive experience in numerous eye lift and forehead lift techniques, Dr. DiBello is able to recommend the best approach for you.

Neck Lift For Men
Loose hanging skin on the neck, especially in the front of the neck below the chin, is a common complaint among men. Dr. DiBello restores a more youthful neck appearance by performing a small incision behind each ear and one underneath the chin. This Neck Lift ultimately provides a more refined jaw line through a recontouring of the loose hanging neck skin.

Facial Contouring/Injectable Fillers For Men
DiBello Plastic Surgery uses common tissue fillers for men’s facial contouring to restore the masculine contours of the face: Hyaluronic acid is a natural polysaccharide, which can be quite versatile soft tissue filler, when used in the appropriate form. It is currently available under the product name Restylane (also Restylane Fine Line and Perlane) distributed by the Medicis company, and Juvederm Ultra (also Juvederm Ultra Plus) distributed by a company named Allergan. This hyaluronic acid is being widely used for the management of wrinkles, fine lines, contour deformities/scars, and volumetric deficiencies of face and cheeks associated with aging, developmental anomalies, and certain diseases. Although researchers continue to look for the ideal tissue filler, Restylane/Juvederm provides a very predictable, safe, and user-friendly approach.
Body fat also makes excellent soft tissue filler material. A fat injection (also called autologous fat transplantation) transfers fat from one part of the body to another to recontour the face; diminish frown lines, crow's feet and nasolabial folds (smile lines); or provide definition to areas like the cheeks and chin. It can also be used to fill out depressed scarred areas on any part of the body. Additionally, some men have excess fat deposits in their neck and underneath the chin, which causes the face to blend with the neck giving a poor definition. By performing fine cannulae power assisted liposuction, with the super-wet technique, Dr. DiBello can remove these fatty deposits to sculpt the neck, giving definition and shape to the jaw line and chin. Note: fat injection is not permanent and may require an effective maintenance program.

Liposuction/Body Contouring
From GQ to Men’s Health, one doesn’t have to look far to see a magazine with a fit-looking man on the cover. As society continues to raise the bar for the ideal male physique, more men want a body that is trim and athletic looking. Broad shoulders and chest, a flat abdomen, and a narrow hip-thigh area….The problem with this is that as men age, these areas of fat tend to accumulate around the abdomen, the flanks ("love handles"), the breast area (a condition called gynecomastia), and along the chin and neck. As a result, men sometimes seek liposuction to remove these fatty areas that are resistant to diet and exercise.
In many cases, liposuction alone can effectively correct these problem areas. This is due to men retaining their skin elasticity longer than women do, and the areas of fat beneath the skin tend to be firmer and more vascular than those in women. Because of these and other factors, liposuction in men is usually very effective. An excision may also be performed on gynecomastia patients whose breast enlargement is made up of mostly glandular tissue, rather than fat.
Despite abdominal exercises, such as situps and intense aerobic work outs, there are often localized fat deposits that remain in the central and lower abdomen and flanks or "love handles" in males. Abdomen reduction may be a good course of action to take to achieve the desired result in the abdominal area. Men with good skin elasticity who have only a moderate amount of excess abdominal fat may benefit from liposuction alone. A full abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck" may be chosen by men who have hanging abdominal skin (usually the result of massive weight loss), loose abdominal muscles, and/or neglected hernias. It is a major surgical procedure that removes excess fat, tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall, and trims the waistline. With this procedure a longer recovery time is anticipated.

Breast Reduction in Men...
Fact: 40-60% of men are affected by women-like breasts, or “gynecomastia,” which is the medical term for this condition that originates from Greek. Although it’s rarely talked about, it's actually quite common among men. Gynecomastia may affect only one breast or both. Though certain drugs and medical problems have been linked with male breast overdevelopment, there is no known cause in the vast majority of cases. But, there is a solution.
For men who feel self-conscious about their appearance, breast-reduction surgery can help. The procedure removes fat and or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a chest that is flatter, firmer, and better contoured. Surgery to correct gynecomastia can be performed on healthy, emotionally stable men of any age. The best candidates for surgery have firm, elastic skin that will reshape to the body's new contours. The typical procedure involves a combination of liposuction as well as excision (cutting through a small incision hidden in the areola).
Gynecomastia surgery can enhance your appearance and self-confidence. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them frankly with Dr. DiBello. The results of the procedure are significant and permanent. If your expectations are realistic, chances are very good that you'll be quite satisfied with your new look.
