Injectables for Men
DiBello Plastic Surgery uses common tissue fillers for men’s facial contouring to restore the masculine contours of the face: Hyaluronic acid is a natural polysaccharide, which can be quite versatile soft tissue filler, when used in the appropriate form. It is currently available under the product name Restylane (also Restylane Fine Line and Perlane) distributed by the Medicis company, and Juvederm Ultra (also Juvederm Ultra Plus) distributed by a company named Allergan. This hyaluronic acid is being widely used for the management of wrinkles, fine lines, contour deformities/scars, and volumetric deficiencies of face and cheeks associated with aging, developmental anomalies, and certain diseases. Although researchers continue to look for the ideal tissue filler, Restylane/Juvederm provides a very predictable, safe, and user-friendly approach.
Body fat also makes excellent soft tissue filler material. A fat injection (also called autologous fat transplantation) transfers fat from one part of the body to another to recontour the face; diminish frown lines, crow’s feet and nasolabial folds (smile lines); or provide definition to areas like the cheeks and chin. It can also be used to fill out depressed scarred areas on any part of the body. Additionally, some men have excess fat deposits in their neck and underneath the chin, which causes the face to blend with the neck giving a poor definition. By performing fine cannulae power assisted liposuction, with the super-wet technique, Dr. Joseph DiBello can remove these fatty deposits to sculpt the neck, giving definition and shape to the jaw line and chin. Note: fat injection is not permanent and may require an effective maintenance program.
